We asked out readers a simple question earlier today.  That question was “What one thing do you think is missing from Google+?”  These are some of the answer we received.

1. Shortcut keys to jump into Google+ from Gmail.
2. Hashtags.
3. When reading a post in one’s stream, a new post will push it down.  Perhaps a “Pause Stream” button.
4. Location based search of friends.
5.  The ability to disable new notifications for post instead of having to mute them completely.
6. Ability to search all public posts.
7. Top banner should always be visible for quick access, sort of like a toolbar.
8. Better Post editor needed with smileys, emoticons, align, bold, italics, etc.
9. The limit of 5,000 people you can place in your circles should be raised.  Perhaps use an algorithm like Twitter does.  More people following you equates to more you can follow.
10. A “Report spam” link within comments.
11. A Need for private messaging. The current method means private messages get lost in the main timeline. Private messaging should be a separate feature imo.
12. Huddles on the desktop version.
13. Need plugins to collapse posts and comments – should be built-in.
14. APIs for Hangouts and Google+ in general.
15. Circles within Circles.
16. A -1 button.
17. Having 2000 words typed in a new post and accidentally clicking in the wrong place, instantly sending all your work to the land of “Are you F**ng kidding me??” with no “Are you sure??” prompt.
18. Currently the only way to access the full size version of an image as uploaded is to copy its url and strip out the size limiter. there should be a simple option to access them.
19. Integrated auto-translate feature within streams.
20. Real time reply option to a specific user on comments in public posts.

Clearly there are a ton of features and fixes that users are still looking for from Google+.  So far the Google+ team has been quick to listen to feedback, and bring about many changes that users have requested.  I’m sure they are all still listening just as diligently as they have been in the past six weeks.
